PPF Care – How to Clean & Protect Paint Protection Film
Paint protection film (PPF) shields your paint from stone chips, scratches, and UV damage – but the film itself also needs care. Without proper maintenance, PPF can yellow, stain, or lose its self-healing properties over time.
Swissvax offers a dedicated PPF care range for both glossy and matte film finishes. All products are chemically compatible with common film types and formulated to clean, seal, and protect without affecting adhesion or clarity. PPF Care Sets – Gloss & Matte
PPF-Safe Washing
Standard car shampoos can leave residue on film surfaces or degrade adhesive edges over time. Swissvax Car Bath is pH-neutral and free of aggressive solvents – safe for all PPF types. For matte film, use Car Bath Opaque to clean without adding unwanted gloss.
Carnauba Wax Sealant for PPF
PPF Wax (40% Vol. Carnauba) was developed specifically for film-wrapped vehicles. It seals the film surface, enhances water beading, and protects against UV yellowing and environmental contaminants – with a durability of 6–9 months. For matte PPF, use Opaque Wax to preserve the satin finish.
Polishing & Sealing PPF
Can You Polish Paint Protection Film?
Yes – fine scratches, scuffs, and light holograms on glossy PPF can be removed by hand with Cleaner Fluid Regular or Cleaner Fluid Medium, or by machine with CF Professional Regular. All Swissvax polishes are PPF-compatible and tested on film surfaces. Work with light pressure and a soft pad to avoid overheating the film.
For matte PPF, polishing is not recommended as it would alter the satin finish. Use Pre-Cleaner Opaque instead to remove old sealants and contaminants without affecting the matte character.
Should I Apply Lotos Speed After Waxing PPF?
Yes. Lotos Speed adds an extra protective layer on top of the carnauba wax, intensifying water repellency and extending seal durability. Wait at least 3 hours after waxing before applying Lotos Speed to ensure the wax has fully bonded with the film surface.
KERAMIQ9 – Ceramic Spray Sealant for PPF
Why KERAMIQ9 on PPF?
KERAMIQ9 is a water-based spray ceramic sealer that adds up to 12 months of hydrophobic protection on top of your carnauba wax layer. Compatible with all Swissvax waxes and polishes, it creates an extremely smooth, water-repellent surface on PPF, glass, plastic, and paint.
Application takes 30–60 minutes without masking or extensive preparation. The sealer can be renewed at any time in high-stress areas like the hood and fenders. For removal or touch-ups, use Swissvax Prep Fluid to neutralize the coating.
Apply KERAMIQ9 one day after waxing for best results.

Matte-finished PPF and matte paint require dedicated products that clean and protect without adding gloss. The Swissvax Opaque line was developed specifically for these surfaces – every product is formulated without gloss-enhancing agents to preserve the satin or matte character completely.

How Swissvax Opaque Protects Matte Finishes
Matte surfaces are more vulnerable than glossy finishes: dust, dirt, and UV exposure degrade the flat texture faster, and conventional care products with gloss enhancers cause irreversible shiny patches. Swissvax Opaque products use natural carnauba wax without fillers or shine additives to create a protective barrier that repels water and contaminants while keeping the matte effect fully intact.
Regular application of Opaque Wax every 2–3 months maintains protection and makes future cleaning easier. For quick touch-ups between washes, Quick Finish Opaque removes fingerprints and light contamination without water.
PPF Care Accessories
The right cloth and applicator make a measurable difference on film surfaces. Swissvax microfiber cloths are laser-cut to avoid scratchy edges, and each cloth type is designed for a specific step: washing, polishing, buffing, or drying. All cloths are machine washable and reusable.
