Wood is the oldest and most natural material in boat building. In contrast to GRP boats, wooden boats require more care because wood can absorb or release moisture, causing it to swell or shrink. Since wood works, the color and wood coating must ensure sufficient flexibility to protect the wood from moisture and putrefaction.

In boat building, teak wood has always been a very popular material for decking as well as for interior and exterior construction. Teak wood does not rot and is particularly resilient thanks to the silica it also contains.
