Car Leather Care
Clean, Condition & Protect Nappa, Vegan Leather & Alcantara
Premium Car Leather Care for Every Interior
For Nappa, Open-Pored, Coated, Vegan Leather & Alcantara
Your vehicle's leather interior is one of its most personal features – and one of the most exposed. Daily use, UV radiation, body oils, and dye transfer from clothing gradually wear down even the finest hides. Without proper care, leather dries out, cracks, and loses its original color and texture.
Swissvax offers a complete leather care system for all interior materials: from smooth Nappa and open-pored leather to coated surfaces, vegan leather, and Alcantara. All formulations are pH-neutral, silicone-free, and designed to clean and condition without leaving residue or altering the leather's natural finish.
The result: interiors that stay soft, supple, and protected – whether your car is driven daily or reserved for special occasions.
How to Care for Car Leather – A Complete Guide
Proper leather care is more than just wiping down surfaces. Each leather type has specific needs, and using the wrong product can cause permanent damage. Here's what you need to know to keep your interior in top condition.
Types of Automotive Leather & Their Care Needs
Not all leather is the same – and neither is the care it requires:
- Nappa Leather: The most common premium leather in modern vehicles. Smooth, soft, and durable, but susceptible to dye transfer from jeans and abrasion in high-contact areas. Requires regular cleaning and sealing.
- Open-Pored Leather: Breathable and natural in texture, but absorbs liquids and stains quickly. Needs prompt cleaning and protective conditioning to prevent permanent marks.
- Coated (Closed) Leather: Factory-treated with a protective top layer for spill and stain resistance. Easier to maintain, but the coating degrades over time without regular care.
- Vegan Leather: Synthetic surfaces that mimic leather aesthetics. Requires dedicated vegan-specific cleaners – conventional leather products can damage the material.
- Alcantara: A microfiber suede material that attracts dust and develops pilling over time. Requires a specialist textile cleaner and should never be rubbed aggressively.
Swissvax Leather Care Products
Swissvax offers dedicated products for each step of leather care – cleaning, conditioning, and sealing:
- Leather Cleaner: Gentle pH-neutral formula for regular cleaning of newer leather and darker colors. Use with the Cleaning Brush on smooth leather or the Cube Sponge on perforated seats.
- Leather Wax: Pure synthetic fat that penetrates the leather, keeps it supple, and forms a waterproof protective layer against moisture and mould. Particularly suited to heavily used leather and convertible interiors.
- Leather Milk: Nourishing conditioner that replaces lost moisture and protects against UV damage. The essential step between cleaning and sealing.
- Leather Glaze: Protective sealant that guards against abrasion, dye transfer from clothing, and everyday wear. Best results on newer leather.

How to Clean & Condition Car Leather – Step by Step
Follow this routine to keep your leather interior looking and feeling like new:
- Dust Removal: Vacuum or brush off loose dirt and debris before applying any liquid product. This prevents scratching during cleaning.
- Cleaning: Apply Leather Cleaner with the Cleaning Brush. Work in small sections to prevent the cleaner from drying on the surface.
- Wipe Down: Remove cleaning foam with a soft Detail Towel or Micro-Wash cloth. Repeat until the cloth comes away clean.
- Conditioning: Apply Leather Milk to nourish the leather and restore lost moisture. This step prevents drying and cracking over time.
- Sealing: Finish with Leather Glaze to create an invisible protective layer against abrasion, UV exposure, and dye transfer from dark clothing.
- Waterproofing (optional): For convertible interiors or leather exposed to moisture, apply Leather Wax as a final step. The synthetic fat penetrates deep into the hide, keeps it supple, and forms a waterproof barrier that inhibits mould growth.
For perforated leather (e.g., ventilated seats), use a foam Cube Sponge instead of a brush to avoid pushing liquid into the perforations.

Vegan Leather Care
Vegan leather looks and feels increasingly close to real leather, but it has different material properties. Conventional leather cleaners can attack the synthetic surface. Swissvax Vegan Leather Cleaner is formulated specifically for these materials – gentle, effective, and solvent-free.
Alcantara Care
Alcantara combines the luxurious feel of suede with excellent durability, but it requires specialist care. Regular textile cleaners can damage the delicate microfiber structure. Clean with Alcanta Cleaner, address pilling with the Leather Grinding Pad, and seal with Lotos Protectant for lasting stain resistance.
